The University of Colorado at Boulder campus is closing today at 2 p.m. for all but essential employees due to hazardous weather conditions, according to Provost and Acting Chancellor Phil DiStefano. The campus will resume normal business operations and previously scheduled activities at 6 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6.

The Friends of the University of Colorado Libraries will hold its annual Information Day at Norlin Library on the CU-Boulder campus Wednesday, Jan. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be in the Center for British and Irish Studies on the fifth floor of the library. Information Day is free and open to the public and no reservations are required.

University of Colorado Professor Leslie Leinwand has been named a recipient of one of two Marsico Endowed Chairs of Excellence for her teaching and research activities associated with her studies of genetic heart defects.

The university will delay opening for 2 hours on Friday. Personnel should plan to report at 10 a.m. unless otherwise notified.

Currently, campus officials anticipate resuming normal operations tomorrow, Dec. 22, but will provide updates throughout the day today. • All college and departmental graduation ceremonies scheduled for today have been canceled. Housing Department officials at the University of Colorado at Boulder have made arrangements to continue staffing residence halls beyond their scheduled closing at 10 a.m. Friday through 12 noon on Sunday, Dec. 24, to allow students stranded by the blizzard to get flights or rides home. An estimated 1,000 students have not been able to leave campus due to the cancellation of flights and the poor condition of highways throughout Colorado.
