A book authored by Kenneth Hammond, a retired University of Colorado at Boulder psychology professor and a leading expert on human decision-making, has received an award from the American Educational Research Association as the publication making the most significant contribution during the past year.

Lamar will host an exhibit on Greek culture of more than 9,000 years ago as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, “Chaeroneia: 6000 Years B.C.,” will be May 24 through Sept. 1 at the Lamar Public Library, 104 Parmenter St. Exhibit hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free. The local sponsors are KLMR/KSEC Radio, the Lamar Daily News and the Friends of the Library.

Estes Park will host an exhibit of art and photography as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, “Exploring Our Place in Nature,” will be shown from June 5 through Sept. 7 in the Estes Park Conference Center, sponsor of the exhibit, at 201 South St. Vrain. Hours are Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The management division of the College of Business and Administration at the University of Colorado at Boulder will co-sponsor a Lessons in Leadership workshop via live closed circuit on Wednesday, May 14.

Burlington will host an exhibit of graphic art prints depicting work scenes as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program from the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, “By the Sweat of Your Brow: Images of Work,” will be shown from May 24 through Sept. 1 in Old Town Museum, the local sponsor, at 420 S. 14th St. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for youngsters ages 12 to 18 and $2 for ages three through 11.

Brighton will host an exhibit of insect photographs as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, “Small Wonders: Insect Photos by Fran Hall,” will be shown from May 24 through Sept. 1 in the Adams County Museum, the local sponsor, at 9601 Henderson Road. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donations are requested. Photographer Fran Hall, now in his eighties, will give a free public talk about his work on Sunday, June 8, at 4 p.m. in the Adams County Museum.

The Boulder Chapter of the University of Colorado Alumni Association will award three $2,500 scholarships to Boulder area high school seniors and the annual Community Service Award to Cliff Meely, former CU basketball star, at a reception May 7. The Dollars for Scholars reception will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Koenig Alumni Center and is open to all Boulder area CU alumni. Admission is free.

Pueblo will host a week-long series of performances of two children’s operas as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The CU-Boulder Lyric Theatre for Children will perform “Little Red Riding Hood” by Seymour Barab and “Hansel and Gretel” by Engelbert Humperdinck in Pueblo area schools from May 19 through May 24.

Montrose will host an exhibit of Southwestern archaeology as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program from the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, “Exploring Yellow Jacket: The Anasazi Site that Continues to Grow,” will be from June 24 through Sept. 1 at the Montrose Pavilion, CU This Summer’s local sponsor. Hours are weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
