MBA students from the University of Colorado at Boulder and University of Denver will square off on Wednesday, May 12, to see who has the best development plan for one of the premier sites in downtown Denver. The Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge will be held at Invesco Field at Mile High beginning at 5 p.m. The competition will put Leeds School of Business real estate students and Daniels College of Business students on a collision course to see whose plan to develop the Tabor Center II site will win out.

People who plan to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder commencement ceremony May 7 at 8:30 a.m. in Folsom Stadium will join a crowd of about 20,000 and should plan an early arrival. No tickets are required for the ceremony, which will be held in Folsom Stadium regardless of the weather. The majority of the parking for the ceremony will be in lot 436 on Regent Drive, just south of Colorado Avenue.

When University of Colorado at Boulder senior Jennifer Willeke of Otis, Colo., attends commencement on May 7 she will become the second Willeke family member to graduate as a Boettcher Scholar from CU. Her sister, the third to hold the distinction, is currently enrolled at CU. All grew up in the town of about 500 people on the plains of northeast Colorado.

While researching news stories on Monica Lewinsky as he organized a conference on the impeachment of President Clinton, CU-Boulder Law Professor Paul Campos discovered many stories referring to Lewinsky as overweight or fat -- something he found odd, but also revealing, about America's obsession with body image and weight. Intrigued, Campos spent the next couple of years scrutinizing medical studies and interviewing leading doctors, scientists, eating-disorder specialists and psychiatrists about the issue.

A major push in China for university professors and students to teach and learn in English will send CU-Boulder graduates and faculty to China this summer to teach the language. The opportunity is the result of a partnership forged by the University of Colorado at Boulder with Xi'an Jiaotong University, a major technical and research university in Xi'an, China. The school is ranked as one of the top 10 universities in China, according to Anne Bliss, a faculty member in the Program for Writing and Rhetoric.

$500,000 Award will help Anseth build on existing projects ARLINGTON, Va.- If the name Kristi Anseth hasn't reached our collective consciousness as yet, just wait a bit. Anseth, a chemical and biological engineer at the University of Colorado at Boulder, is already "reaching for the heights" by leading a team of researchers in building the scaffolds, or frameworks, of new materials that will dramatically elevate many aspects of medical care for injuries and disease.

Two women faculty members from the University of Colorado at Boulder were elected to the National Academy of Sciences last week, bringing to 19 the total number of CU-Boulder professors who have been named to the elite institution. Physics Department Professor Margaret Murnane, also a JILA fellow, and chemistry and biochemistry department Professor Margaret Tolbert, a fellow of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, or CIRES, were among 72 new members elected to the NAS in 2004.
