CU Friends Of The Libraries Presents CU Solves The 'Mystery Of The Anasazi'

The University of Colorado at Boulder Friends of the Libraries will host a lecture titled "CU Solves the 'Mystery of the Anasazi' " by Professor Steve Lekson on Saturday, Nov. 10. The event will be held at 10 a.m. in Paleontology Hall of the CU Museum of Natural History, located in the Henderson Building. The talk is free and open to the public and a light lunch will follow the presentation.

CU-Boulder Still Accepting Weekend Clothing Donations; Collection Site Moves To Regent Hall On Monday

The University of Colorado at Boulder will continue to accept donations of clothing, sheets, blankets, towels and simple household items at the CU Recreation Center throughout the weekend to aid victims of Friday morningÂ’s Gold Run Condominium fire. Donations will be accepted at the front desk of the CU Recreation Center through midnight on Sunday night. The CU Recreation Center is most easily accessible from Folsom Street on the access road that runs behind the Dal Ward Athletic Center at the north end of Folsom Stadium.

Additional Services Made Available To Victims Of Gold Run Condo Fire; Number Of Â鶹ÒùÔº And Others Affected Still Uncertain

The fire at the Gold Run Condominium Complex has displaced an unknown number of University of Colorado at Boulder students and other residents, though early estimates indicated more than 20 CU-Boulder students may be affected. The number of people affected is not certain as Boulder Fire Department officials investigate the remains of the structure from a blaze that began early today at about 2:45 a.m.

Victims Of Today's Gold Run Condominium Fire Asked To Assemble At Condo Health Center; Temporary Lodging, Meal Service Made Available

A fire at the Gold Run Condominium Complex that started about 2:45 a.m. this morning has displaced an unknown number of University of Colorado at Boulder students and other residents. Three people were admitted to Boulder Community Hospital for smoke inhalation. At this point serious injuries have not been reported, according to officials at the scene. It is not yet known if any of the three people admitted to Boulder Community Hospital were CU-Boulder students.

Hedge Funds Examined By Researchers, Fund Executives At 2007 CU-Boulder Burridge Investment Conference

The state of hedge funds and securities analysis will be the focus of the 2007 Burridge Center for Securities Analysis and Valuation Conference Nov. 1-2 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Denver. The Burridge center is part of the University of Colorado at Boulder's Leeds School of Business. The cost of the conference, which is open to the public, is $45. The JW Marriott Hotel is at 150 Clayton Lane.

CU-Boulder Names New Director Of Environmental Health And Safety

The University of Colorado at Boulder has appointed Derrick K. Watson, a campus veteran with more than 20 years of administrative experience, as its new director of Environmental Health and Safety. Watson's appointment became permanent on Oct. 15 after he served in the position on an interim basis starting Aug. 1. He will report to Paul Tabolt, vice chancellor for administration, for whom he has been an assistant since 2001.

Baseball Teams In Florida, Texas And Washington Benefit From No State Income Tax, Study Says

Businesses have long made decisions on where to locate partly based on taxes and a new study by three university economists now says free agent baseball players do so, too. Major League Baseball teams in Florida, Texas and Washington benefit from having no state income taxes because they are able to get free agents to accept offers of lower salaries, according to the authors of "Baseball Salaries and State Income Taxes: The 'Home Field Advantage' of Income Taxes on Free Agent Salaries."

'Antarctica - Passion And Obsession' Exhibit At CU-Boulder Opens Nov. 1

Award-winning photographs by two of the world's top polar region photographers, Pat and Rosemarie Keough, will be on display at the University of Colorado at Boulder from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31. The traveling exhibit, "Antarctica - Passion and Obsession," illustrates the extreme landscape of the world's 7th continent and is composed of more than 70 images from the Keoughs' acclaimed book "Antarctica," which won 11 international gold honors.
