City of Boulder news release Yesterday afternoon, a fuel truck involved in construction work on the CU-Boulder campus leaked diesel fuel that made its way into Boulder Creek. The fuel spill occurred in an area extending from University Avenue to the banks of Boulder Creek near the 17th Street Bridge.

Former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft To Speak At CU-Boulder On Nov. 27 As Part Of Student Group's Notable Speaker Series

John Ashcroft, who served as U.S. attorney general under President George W. Bush, will visit the University of Colorado at Boulder campus this month to talk about national security following the 2001 terrorist attacks. The CU-Boulder Student Union's Cultural Events Board is sponsoring his appearance as part of its notable speaker series. Ashcroft will discuss "Freedom and Security in Post 9/11 America" at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Macky Auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

An unknown amount of diesel fuel leaked from a fuel truck involved in construction work on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus Wednesday afternoon and made its way into Boulder Creek. The fuel is being contained and cleanup operations, expected to take about two days, are under way in an area extending from University Avenue to the banks of Boulder Creek near the 17th Street bridge, campus officials said.

Colorado Middle School LEGO Teams To Test Their Contraptions In Statewide Meet At CU-Boulder On Saturday

An estimated 1,000 middle school students representing 37 teams from around Colorado will converge on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus on Saturday, Nov. 17, for the eighth annual FIRST LEGO League competition. The competition at Balch Fieldhouse next to Folsom Stadium will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The FIRST LEGO League competitions for middle school students began in 1999. Competing in this yearÂ’s event will be teams from around Colorado, representing Front Range cities such as Denver, Longmont and Boulder.

Those who like the drier than normal weather Colorado has experienced in recent weeks will like the forecast for the rest of the winter. According to University of Colorado at Boulder and NOAA atmospheric scientist Klaus Wolter, a moderate to strong La Niña in the equatorial Pacific Ocean is not likely to fend off the threat of drier than normal weather for the state this winter. "What I've seen so far is, it's just not too encouraging, especially for December, January and February," Wolter said of the prospects for winter moisture in Colorado.

CU-Boulder Student Energy Audits Suggest Ways To Save Money On Bills For Denver Nonprofit Groups

Â鶹ÒùÔº at the University of Colorado at Boulder are evaluating the energy efficiency of several Denver buildings run by nonprofit agencies, and their recommendations will be implemented with help from Energy Outreach Colorado, the International Center for Appropriate and Sustainable Technology (iCAST) and the city of Denver. About 25 students enrolled in Building Energy Audits, a course in civil, environmental and architectural engineering taught by CU-Boulder Professor Moncef Krarti, are working in teams this fall to evaluate 18 buildings used as residential shelters.

Eight Honored As Champions Of International Education At CU-Boulder

Former Defense Secretary William Perry Roundtable Discussion Today At CU-Boulder

Former Secretary of Defense William Perry will meet with faculty and students in a roundtable discussion at the University of Colorado at Boulder Law School today as part of a campus visit for the College of Arts and Sciences' "Dialogue on Defense" program, which is bringing Perry to CU-Boulder. The roundtable from 10 a.m. to noon will be in the Wittemyer Courtroom on the first floor of the Wolf Law Building. The roundtable is not open to the public but media are invited to attend.
