CU Leeds School Of Business MBA Program Ranks In Top 20 In Two Surveys Ranking Entrepreneurship, Social Responsibility

The University of Colorado at Boulder Leeds School of Business MBA program has been ranked in the top 20 in two surveys released this week. The Aspen Institute has ranked the Leeds School 20th for social and environmental stewardship in its 2007-08 Beyond Grey Pinstripes rankings. The biennial global ranking evaluates business school efforts to prepare graduates for new business realities demanding social and environmental stewardship. Beyond Grey Pinstripes also ranked the Leeds School eighth among "small schools" with spring 2007 enrollments of less than 100 students.

CU-Boulder Scientist, Engineer and Administrator Susan Avery Named President of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution

The Board of Trustees of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution announced Sept. 12 that CU-Boulder Professor Susan K. Avery has accepted the position of president and director of the institution. 'Magic Of Chemistry' To Be Explored During Oct. 20 CU Wizards Show

A fire-breathing pumpkin and some lively chemical reactions will highlight an Oct. 20 CU Wizards show about chemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Veronica Bierbaum, a professor in CU-Boulder's chemistry and biochemistry department, will present the free program "The Magic of Chemistry" at 9:30 a.m. in Cristol Chemistry and Biochemistry Building room 140. The show will have a Halloween theme and children are invited to wear costumes.

CU's Modern Indian Identity Series To Feature Eva Garroutte On Oct. 25

Eva Garroutte, author of "Real Indians: Identity and the Survival of Native America," will speak at the University of Colorado at Boulder Oct. 25 as part of the Center of the American West's Modern Indian Identity series. Her talk, "My Father's Stories: Remembering Oklahoma," is free and open to the public. The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. in the ATLAS building auditorium and will be followed by a reception in the ATLAS lobby.

'People's Court' Federal Judges Meeting At CU-Boulder Law School

The U.S. Court of Federal Claims, also known as "the People's Court," is holding its 20th judicial conference on Wednesday, Oct. 10, and Thursday, Oct. 11, at the University of Colorado at Boulder Law School. During the "Claims Against the Sovereign" meeting, more than two-dozen federal court judges from the historic Washington, D.C., court will meet in the Wolf Law Building, including Chief Judge Edward J. Damich and 23 other active judges.

CU-Boulder Talk On Climate, Greenland Set Oct. 12 With Copenhagen Climate Expert

University of Copenhagen ice-core expert Dorthe Dahl-Jensen will speak on ancient Greenland and climate change on Friday, Oct. 12, at the University of Colorado at Boulder as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series hosted by CU-Boulder's Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences. The talk, which is free and open to the public, will be in the CIRES Auditorium in the Ekeley Science Building. Collage By Artists With Aphasia To Debut At CU-Boulder On Oct. 19

A collage created by a group of artists with communication disabilities stemming from stroke or brain injuries will be on display this month at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences Center. The center will unveil an artwork display by the Aphasia Community Art Studio during a public viewing and reception that will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19. The exhibit is a collaborative effort between CU-Boulder and Naropa University's art therapy department.

CU Opera To Stage 'Dead Man Walking' Oct. 26-28 At Macky Auditorium; Sister Helen Prejean Part Of Discussion Oct. 26

The University of Colorado at Boulder will stage the first college production of "Dead Man Walking," an opera based on the acclaimed book by Sister Helen Prejean, a Catholic nun who opposes the death penalty. The university's opera program will stage the production at Macky Auditorium on the CU-Boulder campus at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28. The opera contains scenes for mature audiences only. Parental discretion is advised.

CU-Boulder Assistant Law School Dean Lorenzo Trujillo Named 2007 Latino Lawyer Of The Year

One of the nation's largest professional associations for Hispanic lawyers, judges and law students has named Lorenzo Trujillo, assistant dean of the University of Colorado at Boulder Law School, the 2007 Latino Lawyer of the Year. Trujillo, who graduated from CU's law school in 1993, received the award during the Hispanic National Bar Association's annual convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Oct. 3-7. Trujillo has served as general counsel and regional president of the association and has been president of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association.
