As they head to the bookstore and become acquainted with campus, new MBA students at CU-Boulder also will help the community as part of their introduction to the university. To set the tone for the CU-Boulder MBA program, first-year MBA students will join other members of the community to landscape, weed, paint and do minor repairs to help spruce up the nonprofit September School, located at 15th Street and Canyon Boulevard in Boulder. September School is an alternative high school with a curriculum that focuses on the arts, community and consequences of personal action.

With a close to capacity turnout expected for the first University of Colorado at Boulder football game of the season, students planning to move onto campus Aug. 26th should anticipate delays in traffic and a shortage of parking. CU-Boulder classes start Monday, Aug. 27. Â鶹ÒùÔº who plan to move into campus residence halls Sunday, Aug 26, are advised to do so early in the day to avoid traffic and parking congestion.

Meg Campbell, assistant professor of marketing at the CU-Boulder College of Business, won the best paper award at the Fourth International Research Seminar on Marketing Communications and Consumer Behavior. Her paper, "Brand Familiarity and the Onset of Advertising Wearout" was selected from among 36 papers for the award. The conference, sponsored by the Institute d'Administration des Enterprises, was held in La Londe les Maures, France, in June.

That's what one student said last year in an evaluation of CU-Boulder's Computer Loan Program, now in its third year.

Four miniature unmanned airplanes leased by University of Colorado at Boulder researchers and equipped with sophisticated meteorlogical instruments are buzzing through storms near Jacksonville, Fla., as faculty and students await a hurricane.

The University of Colorado at Boulder has decided to return to internal management of the University Club and the College Inn, Ron Stump, vice chancellor for student affairs, announced today. Stump has appointed Richard Hennessey, a dining service employee with extensive experience in hospitality services management, to serve as interim manager of the two facilities. "Dick Hennessey has substantial experience in the management of similar operations, and will provide excellent leadership," Stump said.

Cindy Donahue, interim director of Disability Services at CU-Boulder, and Dale Trevino, interim director of the Cultural Unity Center, have been appointed to the position of director of their respective units, according to Elease Robbins, associate vice chancellor for student affairs and dean of students. Both directors are looking forward to meeting new and continuing CU-Boulder students at their welcome events on Friday, Aug. 24, and Monday, Aug. 27.

The University of Colorado at Boulder will welcome an estimated 4,950 new freshmen for the start of fall 2001 classes on Aug. 27. This year's freshman class is 3 percent under last year's record-breaking class of 5,095. The reduction was planned by university officials in order to ensure on-campus housing for all new freshmen and to enhance the campus experience for incoming students.

Barbara Kulton has been named associate director of the Women's Resource Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Activities planned by the center for the beginning of fall semester will be Kulton's first chance to interact with students in her new role. "I'm absolutely thrilled to have Barbara on board," said Gina Rosabal, director of the center. "She's a highly skilled individual in a number of areas that will really balance what we already have at the center. I think she is the perfect addition to our staff."

"Words to Stir the Soul: Readings from the American West," will be presented by the CU-Boulder Center of the American West in Denver on Thursday, Aug. 30, and in Boulder on Friday, Aug. 31. Among the featured readers will be University of Colorado President Elizabeth Hoffman, Lakewood Mayor Steve Burkholder, CU-Denver history Professor Tom Noel and CU-Boulder history Professor Patricia Nelson Limerick.
