University administrators have approved a new three-campus program that offers high-achieving undergraduates at the University of Colorado the early assurance of admission to the CU School of Medicine in Denver.

In what has become an annual tradition, Director Gaddi H. Vasquez and the rest of the Peace Corps staff recognize those alumni who take on this challenge and serve in the Peace Corps by publishing the "Top Producing Colleges and Universities" list for 2006.

CU-Boulder Division of Continuing Education and Professional Studies News Release A petition to exhume the body of a man who died more than a hundred years ago will soon be filed in the District Court of Douglas County, Kansas, on behalf of CU-Boulder faculty members who plan to use forensic science to determine his identity and discover whether or not the Supreme Court invented an important legal rule for the wrong reasons.

The University of Colorado at Boulder's Program for Teaching East Asia is sponsoring a three-week study-tour to Japan for Colorado elementary teachers this summer. Teachers who are interested in applying for the tour must send their applications in by Feb. 6. Participants will travel to Japan from June 15 to July 7.

To celebrate the re-release of her landmark 1987 book, "The Legacy of Conquest," University of Colorado at Boulder Professor Patricia Nelson Limerick will join with Stanford University historian Richard White in a special public conversation on Feb. 4. The two well-known and influential historians of the American West will speak at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Hotel's Montrachet Room, 2660 Canyon Blvd., in Boulder. The event is free and open to the public.

Survivors of the Holocaust are among the featured speakers scheduled to appear during the 22nd annual Holocaust Awareness Week at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Feb. 6-10. Keynote speakers, academic and guest presenters will participate at various locations on the CU-Boulder campus. All events are free and open to the public. Examining why academic freedom is often a source of controversy on college campuses across the nation will be the cornerstone of the University of Colorado at Boulder's 13th Ira C. Rothgerber Jr. Conference to be held Feb. 3-4 in the Fleming Law Building. Titled "Horowitz, Churchill, Columbia -- What Next for Academic Freedom?" the conference will address the theory and practice of academic freedom from the perspective of several controversial disputes.

Gary Hart will be part of panel discussions on the political, religious and sexual themes in Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure" hosted by the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts on Jan. 29 and 30.

Associate Professor Anita Heiss of Macquarie University in Sydney will present a talk on "Indigenous Australia: A Contemporary Snapshot" on Monday, Jan. 30, at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Heiss' lecture will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the University Memorial Center ballroom and is co-sponsored by the CU-Boulder Office of International Education and AustraLearn, a study abroad organization. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Members of the University of Colorado Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity issued 10 preliminary recommendations today designed to enhance diversity at the Boulder campus. Its unanimous vote came at the end of a full-day meeting of the commission in the University Memorial Center at CU-Boulder.
