As an alumnae of Seattle Pacific University, Kim earned an undergraduate degree in English and Political Science and completed a Masters in Diplomacy and Conflict Management from Norwich University.

Cresten is continually occupied by understanding the interaction between humans, material transformation, and microbial processes on multiple scales (industrial, municipal, riverine). His most recent projects include modelling the community dynamics involved in wastewater microbial systems, determining the interaction of Eukaryotic microbes with trace organic contaminants in municipal waste, and tracking the influence of the treated wastewater treatment plant effluent on riverine systems.

Josh Coyler

Josh Colyer, Idea Forge Makerspace Engineer

Josh has managed the Makerspace in the Idea Forge over the last five years. He studied mechanical engineering at Iowa State University, and has industry experience in powertrain engineering, solar PV design, structural engineering, and CNC machining. Josh has worked both in design and fabrication, and enjoys collaborating with students throughout the process of dreaming up and creating their own woodworking and soft goods projects.

Mike Hannigan

Mike Hannigan, Department Chair of Mechanical Engineering

The primary goal of Mike's research lab is to explore the links between energy systems and air quality; his groups focuses on improving and using detective tools that find these links. His lab has collaborated on this work in Colorado, California and Ghana. He has been fortunate to combine his love for teaching with his research, developing courses like Project Based Learning in Rural High Schools and Household Energy Systems in the Global South.

Deb Prestianni

Deb Prestianni, Human Resources Manager

Prior to joining CU Boulder, Deb worked as an administrative professional and supervisor in private law firms, telecommunications companies and higher education on the East Coast, where her experience in human resources began. Deb moved to Colorado in 2015 from Virginia and was previously at Colorado Law School for three years, supporting the dean and associate deans in faculty affairs, before joining the College of Engineering and Applied Science in August 2019. Deb is a strong advocate for lifelong education in all its forms, coming from a working class family. She moved to Colorado 4 years ago, and loves it much more than anywhere she has lived before on the East Coast of the US. Deb's personal interests are gardening, birdwatching, sewing/knitting, practicing French & Spanish, wine tasting & traveling.

Dan has been working at the University of Colorado Boulder for a little over 5 years and came to the CU Engineering school after seeing a neighbor of his build fantastic things with the resources available to students in the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory. After getting a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering here at CU, Dan heard about a job opening with the ITL Program and jumped at the opportunity. Recently Dan switched his role here at CU to become an Instructor with the Engineering Plus program, and is enjoying the new challenges that come with this role change.
