The materials testing allows for the study of mechanical and durability properties of structural and construction materials under various loading and environmental conditions. Our lab offers unique capabilities for axial testing up to 1 million lbs (4450 kN) for large sections and laboratory sample load testing under programmable thermal and moisture environments.

Equipment & Facilities

  • Hydraulic loading frames 
  • Equipment for various material tests including freeze-thaw cabinets and an environmental chamber used together with one of the 110 kip (489 kN) MTS hydraulic loading frames
  • Staging room
  • Locking cage area for tools and small storage
  • The two movable manual cranes servicing the area can lift a combined weight of 1.5 tons (1.36 metric tons)
