Black Holes To Be Explored At CU's Fiske Planetarium June 16-17

The mysteries of black holes, including what it would be like to fall into one, will be explored during two June shows at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Fiske Planetarium. CU-Boulder Professor Andrew Hamilton will present "Black Holes," a show intended for a general audience, on June 16 at 8 p.m. On June 17 at 9:30 a.m., he will present the CU Wizards show "Black Holes," which is geared toward students in grades five through nine. Both shows will be in the planetarium.

CU-Boulder Establishes Newton Chair In Leadership, Honoring Former CU President

A Quigg and Virginia S. Newton Endowed Chair in Leadership has been established at the University of Colorado at Boulder to honor the former CU president and mayor of Denver. The chair will guide a diverse array of existing campus leadership programs, Interim Chancellor Phil DiStefano and Provost Susan Avery announced today. A search committee is being formed and the chair could be filled as early as September.

About 200 educators are expected to attend the CU-Boulder Leeds School of Business "Teaching Business Ethics" conference, sponsored by Qwest Communications International Inc. Educators from Puerto Rico and 14 countries including Afghanistan, Egypt, The Gambia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, South Africa and Spain are registered to attend the conference.

CU-Boulder Buffalo Racing Team Makes Top 20 At Formula SAE Competition

The University of Colorado at Boulder's Buffalo Racing team finished 20th in a field of 140 entries at the 2006 Formula SAE engineering competition, its best finish in six years of consecutive entries. The competition, sponsored by Ford, General Motors and DaimlerChrysler, was held May 17-20 at the Ford Proving Grounds in Romeo, Mich. A team from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, took first place and teams from Pennsylvania State University and the University of Michigan took second and third, respectively.
