A report of two suspicious individuals at nearby Boulder High School early Thursday morning prompted the University of Colorado to temporarily close 19 buildings and notify key personnel in the affected buildings of a heightened alert status on campus.

Extra Security In Place For CU-Boulder Commencement May 11; Early Arrival Recommended

Because of events at Boulder High School on Thursday, the University of Colorado at Boulder will provide extra security measures at commencement ceremonies on Friday, including the main commencement ceremony at 8:30 a.m. in Folsom Stadium. As a matter of media policy, the university does not discuss the specifics of its security measures. However, guests are asked not to bring large purses or bags to the ceremony, and people entering the stadium may be subject to search.

CU-Boulder Center For Environmental Journalism Names 2007-08 Scripps Fellows, Program Marks Its 10th Anniversary

Five journalists have been selected as 2007-08 Ted Scripps Fellows in Environmental Journalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder. The fellowships are hosted by the CU-Boulder Center for Environmental Journalism and funded through a grant from the Scripps Howard Foundation. The nine-month program, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, offers mid-career journalists an opportunity to deepen their understanding of environmental issues and policy through coursework, seminars and regional trips. The CU-Boulder Friends of the Libraries will hold a "Just Desserts" event featuring mystery writer Julie Kaewert on Tuesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in the Wolf Law Building's Boettcher Reception Room. The event is free and open to the public and no reservations are required. The Wolf Law Building opened on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus at the beginning of the 2006-07 school year and is located next to the Fleming Law Building.

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter To Speak At CU Law School Commencement

Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter will deliver the keynote commencement address for the University of Colorado Law School on Friday, May 11, at_11:30 a.m. to 165 law school graduates. The class of 2007 is the first to graduate since the opening of the new Wolf Law Building. Commencement ceremonies will be held in Macky Auditorium on the CU-Boulder campus. Doors to Macky will open at 10:45 a.m. for family and friends. Gov. Ritter is a 1981 graduate of the law school. This is the governor's first commencement address since taking office in January.

Early Arrival Recommended For CU-Boulder Commencement May 11

People attending the University of Colorado at Boulder commencement ceremony May 11 at 8:30 a.m. in Folsom Stadium will join a crowd of about 20,000 and should plan an early arrival. Stadium gates will open at 7 a.m. for seating. No tickets are required for the ceremony, which will be held in Folsom Stadium regardless of the weather. The access road called Stadium Drive, north of the Dal Ward Athletic Center, will be closed to all traffic between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on May 11 for the graduation procession.
