Films Of Stan Brakhage Presented By CU-Boulder Friends Of The Libraries

The CU-Boulder Friends of the Libraries will present five films and discuss the life and work of internationally known avant-garde filmmaker Stan Brakhage in "Movshovitz 'Illuminates' Brakhage" on Friday, Nov. 14. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in room 1B50 of the Eaton Humanities Building on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus. A reception will follow the presentation. Pay parking will be available in the Euclid Avenue Autopark.

Attorney General Salazar Recommends State Archives As Repository For Columbine Records And Evidence; Urges Review And Report By CU-Boulder Expert

News Release from the Office of the Attorney General Denver-- Attorney General Ken Salazar on his own behalf and on behalf of the Columbine Records Review Task Force today recommended to the U.S. District Court the use of the Colorado State Archives as a repository for all Columbine shooting records and evidence.

More than 400 of the most creative people in engineering and computer science education will convene in Colorado Nov. 5-8 for Frontiers in Education, a national conference showcasing the latest innovations in the field. Outreach to K-12 schools to encourage more diversity in the study of engineering, integration of humanities and social sciences into the engineering curriculum, and the use of virtual laboratories for distance education will be among the topics discussed at this year's conference hosted by the University of Colorado at Boulder.

CU's Sommers-Bausch Observatory Has 50th Anniversary Events Nov. 14-16

Sommers-Bausch Observatory on the campus of the University of Colorado at Boulder will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a number of public activities during the weekend of Nov. 14-16. Public tours, lectures, celestial and solar viewing and a fundraising dinner and silent auction will be part of the anniversary celebration. Former astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman, who has flown five space shuttle missions, is expected to speak at the fundraising dinner.

CU Wizards To Explore The Wonders Of Water In 'H2O!'

The unique properties of water will be the subject of the CU Wizards show "H2O!" on Saturday, Nov. 15. University of Colorado at Boulder Professor Casey Hynes will present the show at 9:30 a.m. in Cristol Chemistry and Biochemistry room 140. Fiske Planetarium To Explore American Indian Views Of The Sky

Star and constellation myths from the Navajo and Lakota traditions will be featured in November during live astronomy shows at Fiske Planetarium on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus. "Navajo Skies," presented by CU-Boulder professor of astrophysical and planetary sciences John Stocke, will take place Friday, Nov. 14, and Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. Lakota storytellers will take part in "Watchers of the Ancient Skies" on Nov. 15 and 16 at 2 p.m.

Meningitis, Flu Shots Urged For CU-Boulder Â鶹ÒùÔº At Nov. 6 Clinic On Campus

A one-day only campuswide immunization clinic for meningitis and flu shots is being offered by the Wardenburg Health Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder on Thursday, Nov. 6, and should be a "must do" activity for students who live in the residence halls, said Robert Cranny, director of Wardenburg. Cranny's recommendation is in line with health officials nationally who support the shots for college-age adults, especially those living in group settings such as campus residence halls.

Total Eclipse Of The Moon To Be Celebrated At CU-Boulder

For the second time this year, Colorado skywatchers will be treated to a total eclipse of the moon, according to experts at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Sommers-Bausch Observatory and Fiske Planetarium. The total lunar eclipse will occur in the twilight hours of Saturday, Nov. 8, when at about 6 p.m. the moon will be totally eclipsed. The total eclipse will last less than 30 minutes.
