50 years ago this month the movie that essentially gave birth to the zombie horror genre, George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, made its debut. Although blasted by many film critics at the time for its controversial gory special effects, it spawned numerous zombie movies like Dawn of the Living Dead to the TV series The Walking Dead, says CU Boulder English Professor and horror writer, Stephen Graham Jones.
