Faculty-led outreach and engagement projects will be supported at new levels starting this fall, thanks to increased funding from the Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Provost and the Division of Continuing Education.
Annual funding for the CU Boulder Outreach Awards will now total $560,000, which is $200,000 more than in the past. This year, 42 proposals received funding, ranging from innovative K-12 programming to collaborative research projects that connect research, teaching and creative work with public needs.
The decision to boost funding was due to the quality of this year's proposals and the university's increased commitment to public outreach and community engagement, said Sara Thompson, vice provost for outreach and engagement and dean of continuing education.
"These awards connect community know-how and engaged scholarship in a way that supports the mission of CU Boulder as a comprehensive public research university, and we are thrilled with the impact these programs have and will continue to have on Coloradans throughout the state," Thompson said.
The CU Boulder Outreach Committee, comprised of faculty and community members across many disciplines, oversees the award process.
