The University of Colorado at Boulder is planning a number of fun activities for fans and kids attending the annual CU Football Spring Game Saturday, April 19.

Chancellor G.P. "Bud" Peterson has issued an open invitation for parents to bring their children, 8th grade and under, to take part in a free, fun-filled "Healthy Kids Day" that will be loaded with food, events, contests on Folsom Field and an autograph session with Buff football players.

"We have always viewed CU football games as a way to reach out to larger communities that support the university and the Buffs," said Peterson. "We want to showcase our entire university and the resources it provides communities around Colorado and we welcome these wonderful visitors to CU-Boulder and hope that all of them one day join us on campus as students."

Â鶹ÒùÔº from several schools in Denver plan to participate in the day's events. Attending will be pre-college students from Wyatt-Edison Charter School, Bruce Randolph Middle School, West High School and Lincoln High School. CU-Boulder student ambassadors will greet the students when they arrive at the University Memorial Center at Broadway and Euclid to take them to Folsom Field.

"We want our pre-college students and their families to know that it's never too early to begin thinking about attending college," said Sallye McKee, vice chancellor for diversity, equity and community engagement. "We hope that their memories of this special day will remind them that CU-Boulder is a place of special opportunity for them, their friends and families."

"We're most appreciative of the campus commitment to bring so many constituent groups together for the enjoyment of college football and a chance to get a sneak preview of our Buff squad for 2008," athletic director Mike Bohn said. "College football's wide-ranging appeal to so many people is what makes it exciting, and this is one of many ways to get youths to visit the CU-Boulder campus."

The schedule of events follows:
