MEDIA ADVISORY
Seven University of Colorado at Boulder students who were instrumental in securing financing for a new law school building and future campus construction will present plans for the new building and describe its unique financing at a briefing on campus Thursday morning.
The briefing will be at 10:30 a.m. in the faculty lounge of the Fleming Law Building on Thursday, Nov. 11. The faculty lounge is on the second floor.
The new Wolf Law Building is believed to be the only public building at a major public research university in the United States to be financed largely through student fees. The $46.6 million building will be paid off beginning in fall 2006 through revenue raised by a student-imposed fee of $100 a year, which rises to $400 a year after four years. The fee will be in place for 20 years until bonds issued for the construction are repaid.
Law Dean David Getches will discuss the building and unique financing approach with students Eugene Pearson, Legislative Council president of the University of Colorado Student Union (UCSU); Richard Murray and Brian Mason, both 2003-04 UCSU tri-executives; Joe Neguse and Veronica Crespin, current UCSU tri-executives; Crisanta Duran, president of the Student Bar Association, and Melissa Williams, law student.
A question-and-answer session will follow a brief presentation by the students and Getches.
