David P. Weber, a doctoral student in accounting at the University of Colorado at Boulder Leeds School of Business, is one of 10 national recipients of a $25,000 Deloitte & Touche doctoral fellowship.
As a Deloitte & Touche Doctoral Fellow, Weber will receive $5,000 during his final year of course work and $20,000 during a subsequent year of working to complete his dissertation.
Weber will use the funds to support his research examining the various causes and consequences of differences in accounting used for income tax purposes versus financial reporting purposes.
The Deloitte & Touche program attracts applicants from nearly 100 schools nationally. Â鶹ÒùÔº who apply for the fellowships are nominated by the accounting faculty of their respective schools. An independent selection committee composed of three top accounting educators then selects the recipients.
In addition to CU-Boulder, other schools with fellowship winners this year included the University of Chicago, Duke, Michigan and MIT.
"Deloitte & Touche's doctoral fellowship program has been an enormous catalyst to supplying the best and brightest young people to the professorial ranks in accounting," said University of California Professor Julie Collins, a member of the selection committee.
