The CU Heritage Center will present a talk on the lives of bats by Rick A. Adams, founder and president of the Colorado Bat Society, on Sunday, Feb. 8.
Back by popular request, Adams will lecture and present visual images at 3 p.m. in the Old Main Chapel on the CU-Boulder campus. The event is appropriate for all ages and is free and open the public.
Adams will discuss his new book on "Bats of the Rocky Mountain West." He will demystify the "leather flutterers," including the long-time residents of the Old Main belfry.
"With advances in research technology, biologists are able to learn more about the secretive lives of bats, and as a result, many of our preconceived notions about their natural history have proven incorrect," Adams said.
The talk will be followed by a book signing and a reception with refreshments at the CU Heritage Center on the third floor of Old Main. Books will be available for sale.
The CU Heritage Center is the university's history museum. It is sponsored by the CU-Boulder Alumni Association and is open to the public Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free.
