Christopher Schmidt has been named assistant director of the Office of Judicial Affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder, according to director Matthew Lopez-Phillips.
"Chris brings a wealth of experience to our office as well as a deep understanding of the university and its various components as a former graduate and hall director," said Lopez-Phillips. "I am very pleased that Chris is a member of the Judicial Affairs team."
Schmidt served as residence hall director for the CU-Boulder Department of Housing's Cheyenne Arapaho hall prior to his new appointment. In that position he led training sessions on topics including academic support, judicial affairs, emergency procedures and counseling and conflict resolution programs. He also co-advised the Residence Life Appeal Board.
Schmidt graduated from CU-Boulder in May 2001 with a master's degree in religious studies. He completed his undergraduate studies at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., earning double bachelor's degrees with honors in French and religion. He also studied French literature and society at the Institut Catholique de Toulouse et Center Dickinson in Toulouse, France during the 1995-96 academic year.
The Office of Judicial Affairs administers the non-academic discipline system for students on the Boulder campus, known as the Student Code of Conduct, and provides programs and information on maintaining the general welfare of the university community.
