U.S. Rep. Mark Udall will hold a news briefing and public talk on energy and science issues in the American West at the University of Colorado at Boulder at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20.
Joining Udall for the discussion in the University Memorial Center, room 247, will be Superintendent Vaughn Baker of Rocky Mountain National Park and CU-Boulder history and environmental studies Professor Patricia Nelson Limerick.
Remarks by each participant will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience. The event is free and open to the public.
Limerick is the principal author of two recent reports published by the CU-Boulder Center of the American West, both to be addressed at the forum: "What Every Westerner Should Know About Energy" and "Making the Most of Science in the American West: An Experiment."
The latter 33-page report, published this month, is the result of a 2002 workshop held near Rocky Mountain National Park and co-sponsored by the National Park Service and Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History. The report is available for free on the Center of the American West Web site at and print copies may be purchased for $5 each.
To get to room 247, enter the UMC from Euclid Avenue through the south terrace doors and proceed straight and then left to the left side walkway above the atrium area. The room is at the end of the walkway.
For information or to purchase either of the new reports contact the CU-Boulder Center of the American West at info@centerwest.org or (303) 492-4879.
