The formation and growth of planets and stars will be explored at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Fiske Planetarium on Friday, July 11, at 8 p.m.
John Bally, a professor in the astrophysical and planetary sciences department, will present a live show on "The Birth of Stars and Planets."
During the presentation Bally will highlight recent observations of star and planet formation and show how scientists using giant ground-based telescopes, space-based instruments such as the Hubble Space Telescope and computer modeling have made some incredible discoveries.
The audience will see the latest results from some of the world's best observatories and learn how the solar system may have formed.
Admission for the show is $5 for adults, $4 for students and $3 for children and seniors. The Sommers-Bausch Observatory will be open to the public after the Friday evening show, weather permitting. Admission to the observatory is free.
