Denison University has honored distinguished CU-Boulder Law Professor Charles Wilkinson for his contributions to the legal profession, the community and his alma mater.
Charles Wilkinson received his undergraduate degree from Denison, which is located in Granville, Ohio, in 1963. He was one of nine alumni honored by the school at a May 30 ceremony held during Denison's annual Reunion Weekend.
According to Denison Alumni Director Sandy Peeler Ellinger, Wilkinson received the highest award bestowed by Denison's Society of the Alumni.
"We honor Charles F. Wilkinson III for his impassioned advocacy on behalf of the American West, its people, its natural resources and its place in history," said Ellinger.
A distinguished author, Wilkinson has published numerous books and articles. His most recent book, "Messages From Frank's Landing," is a profile of Indian activist Billy Frank Jr. of the Nisqually Tribe of western Washington. Published in 2000, "Messages From Frank's Landing" won the Colorado Book Award.
