Eldridge Greer, director of Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Colorado at Boulder, has been elected to the board of governors of the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors.
Greer was elected to a three-year term and will be responsible for shaping diversity issues for counseling centers nationwide.
"I am excited and humbled by the opportunity to provide this support to college counseling centers and their directors," Greer said. "It is another way that we're able to help students succeed."
Greer has worked at CU-Boulder since 1994. He is also an adjunct faculty member in the department of psychiatry at the CU Health Sciences Center. Greer became director of Counseling and Psychological Services: A Multicultural Center in 1999 and is involved with several advisory boards including co-chairing the Chancellor's Advisory Committee on Minority Affairs.
He also is a member of the Sexual Harassment Advisory Board, the African-American Leadership Initiatives Program and the Women's Resource Center Honorary Board. He is an active speaker, instructor and panelist on multicultural and social justice issues.
The Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors is a nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is to promote the institutional and practice needs and interests of university and college counseling centers. The organization currently represents 500 higher education institutions.
