Four prominent real estate professionals have joined the University of Colorado Real Estate Council, or CUREC, a part of the Leeds School of Business聮s Real Estate Center.
The new members are Edward N. Barad, Peter W. Grosshuesch, Chester T. "Chetter" Latcham and Kimra Perkins.
CUREC consists of members from diverse disciplines in the real estate industry. Members play a key role in helping students supplement their education with professional experience.
"The tremendous amount of business knowledge and experience that the council members contribute is crucial to the overall success of the school," said Byron Koste, director of the Real Estate Center. "They integrate their familiarity of CU with outside real estate perspectives, which provides the ideal combination for great leadership."
The new members聮 experience includes the following:
Barad is a shareholder in the firm of Brownstein, Hyatt & Farber, and chair of its real estate department. He received both his bachelor聮s and law degrees from CU-Boulder. His practice in real estate emphasizes commercial development and finance.
Grosshuesch is director of community development in Breckenridge, Colo. Previously he was special projects coordinator for the city of Aurora where he was responsible for the coordination of planning and infrastructure development near Denver International Airport.
Latcham is president of the Colorado division of Shea Homes. He oversees the build-out of the 22,000-acre master-planned community of Highlands Ranch as well as other developments throughout the greater metropolitan area, including the 3,000-acre master-planned, mixed-use community of Reunion in Commerce City.
Perkins is chief operating officer for InSite Properties Inc. Her primary responsibilities include business development, client retention and refining internal training systems. Before joining the InSite team, she was senior vice president and regional manager for Jones Lang LaSalle.
The CU Real Estate Center provides real estate curriculum at the graduate and undergraduate levels, develops real estate internships for students and fosters relationships between professionals and the university.
