Tim Gill, founder and former chairman of Denver-based Quark Inc., will speak on "Being Gay In The Business World" at the University of Colorado at Boulder April 24 at the Museum Collections Building, formerly the Geography Building, room W-100.

The talk is at 3 p.m. followed by a reception in Dinosaur Hall of the Henderson Museum.

Gill is a graduate of the CU-Boulder College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, where he earned a degree in applied mathematics in 1976. He went on to build Quark into a $1 billion computer software company.

He also is founder of the Gill Foundation, widely known for providing millions of dollars annually to gay, lesbian and HIV/AIDS organizations, including the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Colorado, as well as numerous other charitable organizations that serve the general public.

"Gill's leadership and commitment has helped numerous GLBT organizations launch new initiatives and sustain current advocacy efforts for the GLBT community," said Bruce Smail, director of the CU-Boulder GLBT Resource Center.

"It is certainly an honor to have him visit our campus and discuss issues of being gay in the business world," said Smail. "I hope his leadership will be an inspiration to the GLBT community and encourage others to find ways to advocate for the needs of this community."

In addition to funding the gay and lesbian movement, Gill also is a strong supporter of social justice organizations and educational institutions, including CU-Boulder, where he has provided support for several engineering programs and the GLBT Resource Center.

The Museum Collections Building is located on Broadway near College Avenue, next to the Economics Building. For detailed directions, check the CU-Boulder map on the Web at: . The Museum Collection Building, site of the talk, is No. 31 on the map.
