The composer for the hit CBS television series "Survivor" will talk about creating music for television March 14 at a free public lecture hosted by the University of Colorado at Boulder Entrepreneurship Center for Music.
Russ Landau, whose music has accompanied films and television programs for more than a decade, will take part in an informal discussion titled "Composing for Television" at noon in University Memorial Center room 215.
A renegade musicologist on a quest, Landau has sought out native sounds from each "Survivor" location and incorporated them into the show's soundtrack. During the taping of "Survivor III" in Africa, Landau spent many weeks visiting more than 15 different Kenyan tribes, including the Great Masai warriors.
His current projects include the NBC hit show "Fear Factor," USA Network's "Eco Challenge" and "Combat Missions," and the upcoming ABC miniseries "Superfire."
