National Eating Disorders Awareness Week comes to the University of Colorado at Boulder Monday, Feb. 26, through Friday, March 2, featuring a variety of free lectures, discussions and therapy booths targeted to both men and women.
The programs will highlight the importance of understanding the effects eating disorders have on people's lives.
The Women's Resource Center, Wardenburg Health Center and Feminists Address the Body are sponsoring the week, which will feature such speakers as local therapist Zoe Rabinowitz, who has worked with university groups and sororities on issues concerning eating disorders.
A sample of events offered throughout this week include:
o Monday, Feb. 26, in the University Memorial Center's Forum Room
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. -- "Bulky Boys: Men, Body Image, and Eating Disorders" by John Fox
1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. -- "Eating Disorders and State of the Art Treatment" by Zoe Rabinowitz
o Tuesday, Feb. 27, in the Recreation Center's Conference Room 2
9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. -- Free yoga class with Felica
Noon to 1 p.m. -- "Making Sense of Fad Diets and Supplements" by nutritionist Jackie Berning
1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. -- "Spirituality - A Path to Recovery" by Zoe Rabinowitz
o Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the Recreation Center's Conference Room 2
9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.-- "Body Image Presentation by the Wellness Center"
11 a.m. to 12:45 a.m. -- "The Role of Bodywork in Recovery from Eating Disorders" by Polarity Therapist Merrill Page

1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. -- Recovery Panel
3 p.m. to 5 p.m. -- "Creativity and the Healing of Eating Disorders" by Zoe Rabinowitz
