The Council of Ministers of Galicia, Spain, has awarded CU-Boulder Professor Luis Gonz谩lez-del-Valle the Silver Medal of Galicia.
Gonz谩lez-del-Valle was recognized for his efforts in the field of Hispanic Studies in the United States and for his extensive research on the Galician writer Ram贸n del-Valle-Incl谩n. The prime minister of Galicia presented Gonz谩lez-del-Valle with the Silver Medal on July 26 during the festival of St. James, the patron saint of Spain.
Gonz谩lez-del-Valle joined CU-Boulder in 1986. He has written and edited 22 scholarly books and many articles. He is the executive secretary of the Twentieth Century Spanish Association of America, director of the Society of Spanish and Spanish-American Studies and general editor of Annals of Contemporary Spanish Literature.
In 1996 he received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Colorado chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. He currently is editing the sixth and final volume of Eugenio Florit聮s "Complete Works" and is continuing his research on Charles Baudelaire聮s presence in early 20th century Spanish literature.
