Special recognition ceremonies will be hosted by most University of Colorado at Boulder schools and colleges in addition to the main University Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 12, at 9:30 a.m. in Folsom Stadium.
Following is a schedule of special events in the schools and colleges to honor the graduates, their families and guests.
* May 11 at 3 p.m. in Macky Auditorium, School of Journalism and Mass Communication recognition ceremony. The speaker will be Deborah Howell, director of Newhouse News Service.
* May 11 at 3 p.m. in Grusin Music Hall, College of Music recognition ceremony. The speaker will be Professor Emeritus Everett Jay Hilty, long-time faculty member and former head of the collegeÂ’s Division of Organ and Church Music.
* May 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the Coors Events/Conference Center, College of Business and Administration undergraduate recognition ceremony.
* May 11 at 6 p.m. in Macky Auditorium, School of Education recognition ceremony. The speaker will be Sandy Husk, the superintendent of schools for the Mapleton School District.
* May 11 at 8 p.m. in the Muenzinger Psychology Auditorium, College of Architecture and Planning recognition ceremony. The speaker will be CU-Boulder architecture Professor George Hoover, who designed the North Classroom Building on the CU-Denver campus. A reception will follow the ceremony in the Environmental Design building.
* May 11 at 8 p.m. in the Coors Events/Conference Center, College of Engineering and Applied Science recognition ceremony. The speaker will be CU-Boulder alumnus and former President of Lockheed Martin, Peter Teets.
* May 12 at noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics main lobby, Graduate School reception for doctoral graduates.
* May 12 at 2 p.m. in Macky Auditorium, the School of Law commencement ceremony. The keynote speaker will be former United States Attorney General Edwin Meese III. Carl Eklund, an accomplished bankruptcy and corporate restructuring lawyer, will receive the Honorary Order of the Coif at the ceremony.
* May 12 at 6 p.m. in Macky Auditorium, the Graduate School of Business Administration program ceremony. The speaker will be Michael Leeds, a 1974 CU-Boulder College of Business and Administration graduate and former CEO of CMP Media Inc.
Many departments in the College of Arts and Sciences will be holding events to personally recognize their graduates. Please contact individual departments for further information.
