CU-Boulder MBA students are hosting the eighth annual Barney Ford Auction at the CU-Boulder Museum on Saturday, April 29, to fund academic fellowships that support diversity at the College of Business.
The event, held at 6 p.m., supports the Barney Ford Scholarships. The scholarships were established in honor of Barney Ford, a former slave who came to Denver during the 1850s.
Ford became very successful in restaurant and hotel entrepreneurial ventures before making a considerable fortune in mining.
Auction items include: a team autographed Avalanche jersey; a hockey puck autographed by Adam Deadmarsh; a football autographed by Jason Elam and Bill Romanowski; a Nuggets cap autographed by Nick Van Exel; a one-night stay at the Hotel Boulderado; a weekend stay at the Nordic Lodge in Steamboat Springs; a day of Powder Cats skiing/snowboarding; an overnight stay at the Sylvan Guest Ranch in Loveland; lift tickets to Winter Park Resorts; and a round of golf for two with a cart at Flatirons Golf Course.
