Area citizens are invited by the Friends of the Libraries to the University of Colorado at Boulder Norlin Library on Wednesday, Jan. 5, for a day of instruction on how to use the CU libraries.
The event, called Senior Day, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Center for British Studies room in Norlin Library, room M-549.
Senior Day will feature tours to familiarize guests with the libraries' contents such as government publications, tax information, foreign and domestic periodicals, medical resources and children's books. Computer training also will be conducted in Norlin's computer lab. Colorado residents can apply for library privileges by presenting a Colorado photo ID.
Events will start at 9 a.m. with registration and a welcome by James F. Williams II, dean of the CU-Boulder Libraries, and Ruth Kahn, president of the Friends of the Libraries, sponsor of the program. The remainder of the morning will consist of computer instruction and a talk about rare materials housed in the library's Special Collections department.
After lunch, short tours of the library will be available.
Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch. Beverages and desserts will be provided. The lunch speaker will be Beth Filar from the CU-Boulder Map Collection.
Senior Day is free and open to the public. Free parking will be available in the Euclid Avenue Autopark. The Academy and the Boulder Daily Camera are co-sponsors of Senior Day.
