Key elements of the University of Colorado at Boulder Master Plan will be described to campus and community members in an open house on Wednesday, Aug. 18, hosted by Paul Tabolt, CU-Boulder's vice chancellor for administration, and the Department of Facilities Management.
The open house, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the fifth floor British Studies room of Norlin Library, is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about the plan or who would like to ask questions. The Master Plan outlines how the campus's physical environment likely will develop over the next 10 years.
Invitations to the open house have been sent to members of the Boulder City Council, the Boulder County Commissioners, the board of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce, Historic Boulder and the Boulder city planning staff.
According to Jeff Lipton, executive director of Facilities Management, the purpose of the open house is to describe the master planning process, to answer questions about specific details of the plan and to explain the rationale for key sections of the plan such as the Transportation Plan, the Future Building Sites Plan, the Grandview Plan and the Williams Village Plan.
"The campus has been working on this plan for almost two years and has sought significant input from the local community during the planning process," said Tabolt. "We are excited to share the key concepts contained within the draft plan with the community in order to seek additional input and suggestions. We hope to have a great turnout for this open house and look forward to receiving additional community input."
Several maps and diagrams will be on display as part of the presentation.
To get to the British Studies room in Norlin Library, enter from the west side of the library and follow signs to the elevator or stairs.
Free parking is available in CU Lot 256, located behind the Starbucks shop at University Avenue and Broadway, or at the Recreation Center north of Norlin Library for people with CU parking passes.
