Four finalists have been named for the position of vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder, according to search committee Chair Peter Spear, dean of arts and sciences.
The four are: Philip P. DiStefano, associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and currently interim vice chancellor for academic affairs, CU-Boulder; Richard Foley, dean of arts and sciences and dean of the Graduate School, Rutgers University; Eduardo Roberto Macagno, associate vice president for arts and sciences for research and graduate education and dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Columbia University; and Jerilyn Sue McIntyre, vice president for academic affairs, University of Utah.
"As the chief academic officer of the Boulder campus, the individual who holds this position is critically important for the future direction and excellence of CU-Boulder," Spear said.
"The members of the search committee are very pleased with the high quality of the final four candidates. All have outstanding academic credentials as well as extensive administrative experience at research universities."
The finalists will visit the campus during the weeks of April 27 through May 8. Opportunities will be provided for extensive interaction between the finalists and the campus community, Spear said. Foley will be on campus April 27-28; DiStefano April 29-30; McIntyre May 4-5; and Macagno May 6-7.
A more detailed interview schedule will be finalized and disseminated as soon as possible.
The vice chancellor for academic affairs is responsible for all academic and research programs, including research institutes and centers on the Boulder campus. The deans report to the vice chancellor for academic affairs.
About 25,000 students, including 4,500 graduate students, are enrolled in the campus聮 10 schools and colleges. The Division of Academic Affairs includes 1,217 full-time instructional faculty and has an annual budget of about $310 million.
