Alexa Van Dalsem Named OCG Deputy Director
Alexa Van Dalsem has been named the Office of Contracts and Grants’ next Deputy Director effective January 6, 2021. Van Dalsem succeeds Pam Tazik, who announced her January 5th retirement in November.
Van Dalsem has been with OCG for the past eight years serving in a variety of roles including as a Senior Manager for Proposals to her most recent Assistant Director role. She has been extensively involved in policy and procedure development, technology solutions, classified research and research security issues, and cross-campus initiatives to improve and streamline processes.
“Alexa has a willingness to tackle anything, ask good questions and collaborate,” shared Denitta Ward, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Director, OCG. “I have witnessed her calm, logical and organization-wide approach to solving problems and finding common ground. All of which will set her up for success in this important role for OCG and our campus.”
“We wish Pam every joy she has earned in her retirement,” Ward added. “She leaves big shoes to fill, and we are tremendously grateful for her service to OCG, CU Boulder, and the research administration profession.”
Van Dalsem is very active in the national research administration professional associations, especially the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA). She has garnered a national presence and put CU Boulder and OCG front-and-center positively as innovators in the field. In addition to being a regular presenter and serving on regional committees, she has been selected to serve on NCURA’s national Education Scholarship Fund Select Committee for the next two years.
In her new role, Van Dalsem will oversee OCG’s teams responsible for Proposal Development, Grant Administration and Compliance. She will continue to serve as the Assistant Facility Security Officer and serve on cross-campus working groups that either she or Pam have been serving. The research administration community will see Alexa at Tuesday Talks monthly, and she welcomes questions, suggestions and needs from all involved in the vast expanse of sponsored projects at CU Boulder.
