- The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is seeking students to participate in their annual sidewalk symposium during Research and Innovation Week 2022. The symposium – set for Oct. 18 – invites undergraduates to create and share their research with chalk art on campus walkways in collaboration with a professional artist. The event is open to undergraduates at any stage of their project timeline to participate.
- Natalie Anderson is an undergraduate student in mechanical engineering. She interned with Ball Aerospace during summer 2022.
- The Research Support Office will host Sandia Day 2022 – with research presentations, poster session and networking event – from 2:15-5 p.m. Aug. 29 on the first floor of the Gallogly Discovery Learning Center to celebrate the growing partnerships between engineering and Sandia National Laboratory.
- Daniel Alzamora and Kendall Shepherd are undergraduate students in mechanical engineering. They interned with EveryDropMeters during summer 2022.
- Ben Finan earned his bachelor of science degree in Engineering Plus with an emphasis in mechanical engineering and a concentration in business and entrepreneurship. While earning his degree, he was also a lead teaching assistant for a variety of engineering courses.
- Kevin Martin (MechEngr’16) hopes to transform the waste-heavy manufacturing process of the fashion industry, starting with made-to-order pants.
- The Colorado Shared Instrumentation in Nanofabrication and Characterization (COSINC) facility will host a day-long workshop and training session on Material 3D-Nanofabrication and Characterization from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Aug. 9 on CU Boulder’s Campus in the Gallogly Discovery Learning Center.
- Associate Professor Peter Hamlington is the new chair of the Paul M. Rady Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Colorado Boulder.
- Brian Francisco (PhDMechEngr’14) is known at Solid Power's Colorado headquarters as "Dr. Electrolyte," an outgrowth of his work in electrolyte development as a PhD student in mechanical engineering and materials science.
- Solid Power was founded in 2011 as a spinoff from a research venture of the University of Colorado Boulder.
