- Congratulations to Philip Fernbach, Business, Rafael Frongillo, Computer Science, and Julia Staffel, Philosophy, who each received a Provost’s Faculty Achievement Award! Philip received the award for his research on knowledge overconfidence, extremism and the community of knowledge. Rafael won for his article entitled “Elicitation complexity of statistical properties.” Julia received the achievement award for her work on a new project in epistemology that challenges established theories about the nature of human reasoning. Kudos to each for excellence in their respective fields!
- Sidney D’Mello, ICS and Computer Science, will present at CU Boulder RIO’s Research and Innovation Week Ted-Style Talks on October 19th from 6pm-7:30pm at the Dairy Arts Center. This year’s theme is Innovation for the Future of Humanity.
- CU Boulder Today article highlights contributions of Robert McDonald, Dean of University Libraries and Senior Vice Provost for Online Education, to the discussion of new models of online education and degree certification during his testimony before the New York City Council Committee on Higher Education.
