President's Welcome for Fall 2020
Welcome to Boulder, new Grad Buffs!
I wanted to be one of the first to welcome you to campus, where you will be joining a diverse, interdisciplinary, and passionate community of graduate and professional students. I also have some important information to share as you transition into your new programs across campus.
First and foremost, CU Boulder is an inclusive community; everyone is welcome here. UGGS works regularly with various offices across campus on anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for graduate and professional students in every department and college. It is incumbent on all of us to build a supportive and equitable environment in our everyday lives. There is no sitting on the sidelines, I expect every graduate and professional student to embody these values and work to ensure they are met across campus and in our community.
I also know that the global Coronavirus pandemic makes it a challenging time to start a graduate program. Whether you are settling into your new home, adjusting to your program’s work area and offices, or getting familiar with the Boulder area, be sure to follow the most up to date social-distancing guidelines from the University, local, and state health officials. Always wear a mask in public, avoid large gatherings, and make sure to wash your hands frequently.
To learn more about these issues and all the various initiatives UGGS is working on, visit the rest of our website, , follow us on social media ( and ), or contact the UGGS representative from your department.
We're excited that you’ve chosen CU Boulder, one of the nation’s top ranked tier 1 research institutions, to continue your academic career. Our students, faculty and staff have built a global reputation for high-quality teaching, research, and service to society. I’m sure that your class will continue this great tradition. Welcome.
Sincerely,
President, United Government of Graduate Â鶹ÒùÔº
