Adrianne's essay was awarded 1st prize in the memoir category of the Thompson Awards for Western American Writing. Adrianne's essay was an autobiography about fear of avalanches and "funny" coping mechanisms while in the backcountry.

Afton's dissertation is tentatively titled "From the Heavens to the Markets: Development, Nation, and the Mediation of Nature in Northwest China".

Lindsay Skog Receives NSF IGERT Grant

Lindsay has won a grant from the University of Wisconsin, Madison's Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT) Program "Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development in Southwest China" funded by National Science Foundation. The grant will fund Skog's summer research on sacred landscapes in northwestern Yunnan.
