EVEN Prof. Rajagopalan selected 2018 AGU Fellow

Earlier this month, EVEN Professor Balaji Rajagopalan was selected as a 2018 Fellow to the American Geophysical Union (AGU) which is a nonprofit science organization consisting of over 62,000 members from 144 countries. Balaji is also a Professor and Chair of our Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering while concurrently a Fellow at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES).

Becoming an AGU Fellow is a very prestigious honor. AGU Fellows are recognized for their scientific eminence in the Earth and space sciences. Their breadth of interests and the scope of their contributions are remarkable and often groundbreaking. Only 0.1 percent of AGU membership receives this recognition in any given year. Some of Balaji's notable work which assisted in the bestowing of this honor includes research into sustainable water quantity and quality for the growing populations under increasing climate variability and change. Balaji has produced fundamental contributions in stochastic hydrology and in understanding the Indian Monsoon Rainfall variability at contemporary and paleo time scales.
