What do you most like to do to unwind?
Hiking! Nothing is more of a stress reliever than exploring what nature has to offer. Since starting hiking as a regular hobby I have visited 12 national parks and I hope to collect the rest over the many years ahead! To my Colorado discredit I don’t have any true 14er summits under my belt yet, but I also hope to work on this next year.
What has been your favorite work or personal project so far?
Being part of the project to construct the CEAS Cloud Computing service in Summer 2020, a tool to connect students with engineering software regardless of their physical location in the world. This tool was essential for many faculty in the college to teach their curriculum during the remote and hybrid semesters during the pandemic. Even today the cloud desktops continue to see frequent use from some classes and students looking for a convenient means to complete classwork outside of a computer lab.
Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
Jasper National Park – This was one of my first real outdoor outings as an adult and helped me fall in love with hiking and the outdoors. While the Rockies in Colorado are their own treat, the Canadian Rockies have their own special look and the glacier lakes are something you can’t explain without seeing for yourself.
One thing you’re willing to spend way too much on...
Cycling would drain all of my income if I let it. There’s always one more component to upgrade on your existing bikes or the temptation to purchase an entirely new bike for a slightly different purpose than your current ones.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Video gaming is my guilty pleasure. I’ve spent many hours getting lost in virtual worlds to get away from the stress of the day to day. My favorite genres are builders and exploration games such as Cities Skylines and Subnautica.
Which TV show do you never miss?
One of my favorite series is actually from a while ago, Game of Thrones! I binge watched the first 3 seasons as I caught up to the hype of this series and loved everything about it through the end of Season 6. The story and the characters were absolutely fantastic. It’s good that they didn’t have a Season 8, right?
