This is an opportunity for teachers in the Poudre School District to simultaneously earn a Master of Arts in Education, Equity and Cultural Diversity and an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement.

The University of Colorado BUENO Center for Multicultural Education was awarded a grant through the U.S. Department of Education,
Office of English Language Acquisition in 2016 to provide teachers an opportunity to earn a Master of Arts degree in Education Equity and Cultural
Diversity and a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) endorsement (also referred to as the ESL endorsement). The program will begin summer semester of 2019. Ìý

This grant program is limited to participation by teachers from the Poudre School District only.
30 secondary (6-12th) teachers will be selected by a competitive application process.

Details

The 30 teachers selected to participate in this program will form a cohort that will begin taking classes Summer 2019 and
will finish taking classes in 2021. Teachers are expected to take one class each fall and spring and two classes each
summer until all required credits have been earned (30-31 credits total). Fall and spring courses generally meet once per
week from approximately 4:30-7:30 p.m. Each summer class meets for 4 weeks every weekday for 3 hours (e.g. M-Th, 9:00-11:00).
Two summer classes, therefore, will involve 8 weeks of your summer.

Classes are coordinated by the staff of The BUENO Center for Multicultural Education and CU Boulder School of Education.
Courses will likely be located at a Poudre school. If selected to participate, you will commit to taking all courses with your
cohort group, commute to the course location, pay for all books and materials, participate in the research study, and attend
class and complete all assignments. In exchange, your course tuition is paid by the grant. Ìý

Tuition for this program is provided through a Federal Grant. As such, the funding period is limited to the time period outlined
above. Â鶹ÒùÔº must make continued steady progress to complete the program before the funding expires and remain with their
cohort from Summer 2019 to Summer 2021.

The deadline for applications is November 9th, 2018. Decisions will be communicated by mid-November.
