Associate Director of CAS and Instructor in Asian Studies, Colleen Berry is Retiring

After 5 years as Associate Director of CAS and Instructor in Asian Studies, Colleen Berry is retiring! We cannot stress enough what an impact Colleen has had on Asian Studies at CU. Under Colleen’s guidance, the Asian Studies program has not only grown in student numbers, but has also been enriched by her course offerings, and by her passion as a teacher. Her Introduction to Modern Asia (ASIA 2000) course has quickly become a student favorite. The Colorado Journal of Asian Studies, which Colleen edited, has also become a well-respected research publication for undergraduate students not only at CU but among the broader Front Range Asian Studies community. CAS has benefitted immeasurably from Colleen’s enthusiasm and her natural abilities as a community-builder. Her students have benefitted from the care she brought to the classroom and the rich experiences she brought to the study-abroad trips she led in China. Luckily, Colleen plans to continue leading student trips to China during the summers - once international travel returns to normal! We wish her luck and success in all her new endeavors. She will be missed by all!
