Rowman & Littlefield Spring 2017 Internship Deadline Extended! Apply now!
In the Spring 2017 semester, the Center for Asian Studies is offering a 2-credit internship at Rowman & Littlefield Publishers to an undergraduate student with an interest in Asia.
Rowman & Littlefield is a leading independent academic press located in Boulder that is committed to publishing enduring works of scholarship, serious trade books, and upper-division classroom texts across the social sciences.
The intern will assist the History, International Studies, and Geography acquisitions group with a variety of tasks, including contacting scholars for endorsements and reviews, online research, and data entry. The intern will also have an opportunity to learn about the big picture of academic publishing by attending editorial board meetings, editorial planning meetings, and the like. Every effort will be made to involve the intern in Asia-related projects, but the wide range of lists handled by the group will dictate that other subject areas will be part of the workflow as well.
The internship will begin the first week of classes and will run through the last week before finals. It will require six hours per week for a total of 90 hours over the course of the semester. The intern will receive academic credit (toward the Asian Studies degree) in lieu of monetary compensation for the internship.
Eligibility Requirements: Open to undergraduate students majoring in Asian Studies, Chinese, or Japanese, or other disciplines such as History or International Affairs with a concentration in Asia. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 30 hours of college-level coursework with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 before the start of spring semester. Must be fluent in written and spoken English. The deadline for applications is December 5, 2016.
Applications will be reviewed by the internship supervisor at Rowman & Littlefield and finalists will be interviewed during the week of December 5, 2016. The student selected for the internship will be enrolled into the course before the add deadline during the spring semester, and will be responsible for paying tuition for the internship.
