Mark Knowles knows that the ALTEC program is a critical component in teaching and learning for students and faculty in the foreign languages. As Director, Mark supports ALTEC’s mission to broaden and deepen the study of foreign languages by developing, curating, and promoting access to state-of-the-art multimedia. The program prepares educators to incorporate educational technologies into their teaching and it advocates for foreign language study on campus, in the community, and beyond.
Mark came to CU Boulder in October 2008, after working in a similar position at Yale. He has a Ph. D in French and SLATE (Second Language Acquisition and Teacher Education). He hopes that by providing materials and resources (both material and intellectual) to language teachers and students, ALTEC will be able to strengthen the foreign language curriculum today and in the future.
