Abstract: The lecture will focus on the introduction of the aircraft constraint diagram, which is an essential part of the initial aircraft sizing. Coming to the class, the student would have their initial aircraft mission profile and payload/takeoff weight estimation done. The class will cover the six basic constraint equations for the initial aircraft wing and engine sizing.
All constraint equations will be derived from the fundamental aircraft performance examples. The sensitivity of each component of the equation will be discussed during class to emphasize the relationship between the desired aircraft performance and the overall layout and sizing of the aircraft.
Â鶹ÒùÔº are expected to:
- Perform constraint analysis to determine if the aircraft can meet all said initial requirements;
- Identify the design point (thrust loading and wing loading) of the aircraft and
- Perform sensitivity analysis in the constraint diagram and understand the effect of each constraint on their initial aircraft sizing.
